What a Long Strange Trip It's Been

WOW!! To date, I have 89 subscribers to my Yoga Youtube Channel. Who knew! I started this channel in March 2020 in response to our shelter in place order due to COVID19. At that time, I started increasing my daily yoga as a way to deal with my own anxiety early on during our pandemic. Yoga had already helped me get through some very tough times in my life so it was a natural inclination to practice more. I thought, if yoga is helping me, then maybe it would help others so I started filming some short practices. Now I have close to 50. Yoga is medicine for me. There is very little comparison to the sense of emotional release, blissful feeling and the mind shifting and resetting I feel after a class or sometimes days later. Yoga is a very unique practice and I LOVE how it combines movement (as I need this), breath and stillness all at the same time. It's truly magical and has become a way of life for me.

I began practicing yoga in 2001 when I took my first Bikram Yoga class in Boulder, Colorado with my brother. We ended up going 2 days in a row as I think the high heat, sweat and the natural detoxification was a bit addicting. When I returned to Boston, I immediately found Hot Yoga at my gym and little did I know that this was the beginning of an incredible journey. At the time, I was going through an unexpected divorce and there were so many times that I laid my mat down and just cried. Sometimes I couldn't wait to bring my body into a child's pose so no one could see my tears. At that time, it was cathartic and well needed. I went several times a week.Over the years, I have practiced with so many wonderful teachers as I traveled all over Cambridge, Somerville and Boston to learn more, to go deeper and receive the gifts of yoga. My practice grew along with the curiosity of what yoga really was. I yearned for more depth and a greater understanding of the 8 limbs of yoga. Serendipitously in 2010, I landed upon my teachers, Daniel Orlansky and Liz Owen and was certified through The Yoga of Energy Flow course. Through my year long study, I discovered Ayurveda, sometimes referred to Yoga’s sister which broadened and deepened my journey in other ways. Through Ayurveda (the science of life) I discovered the daily rhythm of self care, the importance of spending time in nature, easeful living and the importance of food and our digestive system and their role they play in our health and well being. Yoga and Ayurveda ultimately led me to a plant based lifestyle (and chef) which has been a game changer in my physical, mental and emotional well being. These baby steps and fruitful decisions have led me to becoming a Health and Lifestyle Coach and the Founder of PeaksandPoses Trail Yoga all amazing ways to help others regain their own body wisdom and POWER to evolve.

Yoga and its sister Ayurveda have changed my life from the inside out. It wasn’t all smooth sailing but I’m grateful to have found both of these practices and lifestyles that have shaped my life.
